What you are looking at is one of the burlesque girls that traveled with the World the Mirth a bizarre traveling carnival great uncle Sal pretty much was running everything doing his mind reading act playing the piano in Oregon for the girls show he also had a mask photography studio and his big trailer when all the smoke cleared he did a magazine for them. This carnival would work in different towns for a week and then move on it had psycho clowns midgets the fat lady an incredible burlesque show but the real bizarre thing was when they were all finished at night they started drinking moonshine wearing Sal‘s masks and running around naked Sal told me some crazy stories
The World the Mirth 1949 besides Sal making all their masks reading peoples minds playing the organ and piano for the burlesque girls show He took all the photos for their magazine even had his own photography mask studio with them this is Sal painting the tallest man in the world after they performed all day and part of the night they would all go back to Sal‘s trailer the psycho midgets some pretty wild clowns the fat lady let’s not forget those Berleass girls they had lots of moonshine there and would put some of Sal‘s masks on the little ones you wear the sex orgy ones Are used to brag to my uncle Sal in Key West in the 70s about the parties that were going on then he would tell me his stories he put my stories in his little side pocket
This is my grandfather‘s third boat the greyhound three it was 65 feet long had to super charged diesel engines in it it could pretty much go faster then any Cuban marine patrol boat and pretty much faster than most of the boats with the Coast Guard This boat got to go out to the reef in less than one hour during the day as far as those night smuggling trips to Cuba my grandfather drove it with no running lights This is the boat that he brought the CIA agents back-and-forth to Cuba while he was smuggling rum and sponges
Once a week Lisa and I go to the East Coast about 5 miles south of Daytona Beach it’s crazy nobody is ever there A friend of ours has a condo right on the beach there nobody’s ever in the pool no one’s ever around it’s crazy that’s Daytona in the background
Sometime my great uncle Sal would do a portrait and crop of the negative Like this one here from the early 30s just one of those images I like I try to visualize the rest of her face and body
