The year 1964 at the time my grandfather Captain Tony was known as that mob guy from New Jersey he came to that little crazy island to hide out in 1947 between the time he arrived till 1964 he bought a bunch of private charter boats two of them were 65 footers one of them was for smuggling guns rum and spies in and out of Cuba that’s right he worked for the CIA he was a pretty wild guy back then even ran for mayor which he eventually became in the late 80s but what really put them on the map was buying the original Hemingway bar The oldest bar in Key West that’s another whole story that’s going to be chapter 9 in our book when he first took it over the bar it was off-limits to the Navy because of gambling prostitution drugs and some pretty wild gays that hung out there The bar had a great stage they had some pretty wild shows drag shows some after our shows, upstairs on top of the bar gambling prostitution this building was one of the oldest in Key West it was a Morg, icehouse, telegraph Company, and a couple other bars there was even a tree in the back where are they hung people and what was really famous about it it was the original Hemingway bar that’s where Hemingway drank a lot after his key west fishing trips don’t get It mistaken for the bar down the street sloppy Joe’s we are the original one that case was one in court first time I went to the bar was 1969 it was wild back then I was fortunate to start working for my grandfather in 1976 through 1983 about that time I had to get out of Dodge if you look on the far left of both photos you will see one has a patio and one has a little extension that used to be Bob’s Burgers factory that’s why Jimmy wrote the song cheeseburger in Paradise they were the best burgers in Key West back in the 60s and early 70s I took it over in 82 and made the shrimp patio Shrimp and lobster eggrolls were my specialty we have so many stories for our book coming out of that bar I miss that old pirate

What you’re looking at here is a one of a kind large-format negative of the most recognized face on planet earth the last four years Sal Terracina took this of Donald Trump in a nightclub he was working at at the time playing the piano and doing his mind reading act this might be the sharpest image Of Donald at the time in a nightclub because of the special camera that nobody was using but Sal old school 1972
From 1989 through 1993 I published over 1200 exotic dancers in three different magazines I also did over 200 of their portfolios at the time I probably had the world record while all that was going on I was supplying Howard Stern with most of his Snapple girls that ice tea company right around then the 900 numbers came out you know talk to a sexy girl for $1.99 a minute I’m one of the guys it took most of the photos for the ads
In 2002 I inherited 110 of my great uncle Sals masks with over 20,000 large format negatives with prints and some pretty bizarre artwork soon after I got everything I opened up Terracina West Studios I hung 65 masks throughout the house and studio the mask you’re looking at right here was from a set of twins call to dominatrix twins This is one of the first portfolios I did with the set of twins the other one is it in the frame I like cropping it like this the model was definitely hypnotized By both of the masks

This is A Cambodian opium den Sal heard so many stories about them, He wanted to check them out for a bunch of reasons first to try to get a photo which almost got him killed great published story with this photo One of the other reasons was he smoked opium before and seemed to like it a lot and maybe the one main reason was the prostitution that went on above these opium dens he told me some pretty wild stories since he was gay at a level most people don’t know about, but from what he told me above that opium den was that level Indonesia was always famous for the best female impersonators still to this day, Sal ended up staying with a man and a woman At their house Because he was thrown out of that Opium den For taking this one photo he told me he had so much fun there with them and getting high he almost missed getting back on his ship and leaving the Port
