Key west has been celebrating sunset for over 50 years I know firsthand I was there in the late 60s and saw it firsthand when I eventually move there in the mid 70s I started taking sunset and sunrise pictures not from Mallory Square we’re all the tourists go there was a bunch of us locals that went to Simonton Street we had our wine, beer, and tequila or whatever drugs we were doing that night but what was different back in the 70s we would all meet at sunrise at White Street pier that’s where this photo is that I taken in 1979 even health Published after we all partied all night and the bars closed at four in the morning we would either go to a house party or jump in Michael Alexanders speed boat and go to San Chi Lisa and I did this many nights And then we would zip back for breakfast Key west the way it was

The year 1949 great uncle Sal is working for the World of Mirth a bizarre traveling carnival that travel down through Canada to Virginia and back sal was hired As the organ player for the girls in the burlesque show he also had a mask photography studio that traveled with them he did a lot of mind reading in there and hypnotizing people also did all the photos for that Company and their yearly Magazine they used Sal for many other things Sal was usually the negotiator when they came to a new town and had to pay off the sheriff to set up in a field somewhere Sal I was an amazing negotiator Anyway we all know Sal was a wild gay guy but he did venture off with different women now and then the girl in this picture Dorita she was the head burlesque girl she was the one who danced outside on stage and coaxed all the other men in the big tent in that tent you could actually see nude women and they probably invented the first lap dance in there from what my great uncle Sal told me late at ni
